Paul J. VanAmburgh Sr. (2/26/1937 - 7/4/2010)
Paul J. VanAmburgh, 73, of Carondelet Apartments, died suddenly Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Albany, he was son of the late Harold J. VanAmburgh and Ruth Kerin VanAm-burgh.
He was raised in Albany and resided most of his life in North Greenbush and Watervliet. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, attended Siena College and a 1962 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College.
Paul was in the construction trade for many years, operating VanAmburgh Construction in Albany and was construction manager for Machnick Builders, Unit Span and BBL Construction.
He was a former member of Wolferts Roost Country Club, a golfer, an avid sports fan, especially the NY Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Paul J. (Phyllis) VanAmburgh Jr., Sharon Springs and Keith E. VanAmburgh, Troy; a daughter, Jennifer G. (David) Burgess, Castleton; two brothers, Edward (Arlene) VanAmburgh, DelRay Beach, Fla. and John (Nancy) VanAmburgh, North Greenbush; three sisters, Fay Milot (Kevin) Allen, Niskayuna, Linda (William) Banker, Averill Park and Christine (Daniel) Giovann-angelo, Rotterdam; his former wife, Joyce Haswell VanAmburgh; six grandchildren, Shannon (Tamas) Kovacs and Grace, Vincent, Oliver, Margaret and Ruby VanAmburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
His brother, Harold G. (Phyllis) VanAmburgh also passed on the same day in Fla. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lorraine VanAmburgh.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, Old Route 66, Averill Park with Rev. John Provost, pastor, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
